A-Z of Ingredients

Please have patience as this is a work in progress! I do hope to have all the ingredients I use listed, eventually!

Almond Oil - (Prunus Dulcis) - Organic, Cold Pressed

Light, gentle and wonderfully emollient, Almond Oil has been used in skincare for centuries. It contains high levels of Vitamin A and Vitamin E, plus lots of lovely skin soothing essential fatty acids. It's this soothing action that makes it a perfect choice to relieve skin irritation, inflammation and itching. With fabulous nourishing and protective qualities, it's a great oil to soften skin, reduce moisture loss and it also helps to maintain your skin's natural PH balance.

Argan Oil - (Argania Spinosa) - Organic, Cold Pressed

This powerful, skin rejuvenating oil is a true miracle ingredient! Absolutely chock full of Vitamin E and Omega 6 & 9. This revitalizing and hydrating oil is an absolute tonic for dry, dehydrated or mature skin. It's a fabulous oil to nourish, restore and protect delicate skin and also to help restore tone. Its cooling, skin calming action also make it a rather wonderful oil to soothe sensitive skin.

Avocado Oil - (Persea Americana) - Organic, Cold Pressed

This green, thick (and very, very sludgy!) oil contains an A-Z of fabulous vitamins (A,B,D and E!) and lovely Linoleic Acid (a fabulous skin strengthening essential fatty acid). Despite its real gloopyness, it is in fact a highly penetrating oil making it ideal for those suffering from Eczema or Psoriasis. It's also a marvellous skin regenerator and is excellent at tackling dry, dehydrated skin.

Beeswax - (Ceres Alba)

A pure and natural wax that is obtained by melting and filtering honeycombs. It's a gentle emollient and gives a rich soothing texture to balms and salves. It also has an abundance of natural Vitamin A and fabulous skin healing antiseptic properties. It also provides skin with a natural barrier and protection from the elements. Excellent to soothe chapped and irritated skin.

Borage Oil - (Borago Officinalis) - Organic, Cold Pressed

I adore Borage and have a bountiful crop in my garden (be beware it can very, very easily overtake your herb garden). There is something about the almost neon blue of the flower that's irresistibly cheery. You can use the leaves in salads, they have a lovely fresh cucumber flavour (and tingle on your tongue!) I have noticed that Waitrose have cottoned on to its culinary use as they now sell it in the fresh produce section. Used since Roman times (they used an infusion of the herb to treat depression). It is one of the richest sources of Gamma Linoleic Acid (an essential fatty acid) which helps soothe skin suffering from problems such as Acne, Eczema, Psoriasis and Rosacea. Its also wonderful to help nourish sun damage and prematurely aged skin.

Calendula Petals - (Calendula Officinalis) - Organic                                                                Everyone know this as the joyously sunshiny, yellow marigold. But, did you know its also a powerful healer and with its skin calming anti-inflammatory action it's suitable for even the most pernickety skin type. With its mild antiseptic action it's also rather good at healing damaged skin and protecting it from any further infection.

Calendula Infused Oil - Organic, Cold Pressed

I collect my Calendula Flowers and leave them to dry in the warmth of the potting shed. When dried I plunge the gorgeous petals in sunflower seed oil and leave to infuse. The result, a rich yellow oil that is jam packed with luscious skin soothing and healing power.

Chamomile (German) - Matricaria Recutita - Organic

My ultimate dream is to one day have a chamomile lawn (with gorgeous Roman Chamomile), but until then I have to console myself with an ever increasing crop of this cheery daisy like flower with its earthy, apple scented fragrance. German Chamomile has a proven anti-inflammatory effect on the skin making it perfect to treat skin suffering from such conditions as Psoriasis, Eczema and Acne. It also speeds up wound healing making it perfect to calm, soothe and heal burns and other skin damage.

Chamomile Infused Oil - Organic, Cold Pressed

I collect the flowerheads and leave them to dry in the warmth of the potting shed. When dried I plunge the flowerheads in sunflower seed oil and leave to infuse. The result is a lovely, light oil that is soothing and calming to the skin.
